Happy National Coffee Day! We love, love, love coffee. Okay, maybe two of us think it’s the sweet nectar of life, and maybe one of us absolutely hates it, but regardless, we’ll be celebrating coffee all week here on The Merrythought. We’ll be sharing favorite recipes, how-to’s and coffee-ish related posts all week. And we’re even throwing in a coffee related giveaway, so keep an eye out for that!
Three tips for you if you’re looking to get a little more enjoyment from your coffee (really, these are must-do’s!):
1. Buy better coffee. Picking up a bag at the grocery store is fine now & then or if you need it in a pinch, but you’d be doing your taste buds a big favor if you found a local coffee roaster and bought beans from them. Does it cost more? Usually. Is it worth it? Absolutely. The beans are so much fresher, so much better tasting. You can also find some good coffee online if there’s no roasters near you. If that’s not an option, at least try for some of the better varieties they do have at the store. Yes, it’ll cost more, and yes it’s worth it!
2. Get a coffee grinder and buy whole beans. It takes an extra minute to grind your own coffee each morning and it’s so, so much better.
3. Invest in a better coffee maker. Have you been to a coffee shop lately and seen all the magical equipment they use to make that amazing cup of coffee? You can buy it! A lot of these aren’t too expensive and are pretty easy to use. We recommend a French Press, AeroPress or a pour over like a Chemex or Hario (FYI – you don’t have to buy the brand name, they still work the same! 😉 ).
What about you? Are you a coffee lover, hater, or maybe just a casual drinker? Do you know which one of us is the coffee hater??
