I finally got around to trying out some fresh fruit and veggie juicing at home after tasting some last month while shooting an article for 585. I looked up a bunch of recipes to try to see what people might put in them normally, went to the public market and bought a ton of produce, and came home and started throwing in whatever I felt might go good together. And it worked out wonderfully! You’ll be shocked at how tasty these juices are!
Beet
1 medium beet (chop off greens and scrub clean)
1 large apple (cored and chopped)
4 medium carrots (scrubbed)
1/2″ ginger
small bunch of cilantro
juice of 1/2 lemon
Apple & Fennel
1/2 fennel
2 medium apples (cored and chopped)
1/2 cucumber
2 springs mint
Grapefruit & Carrot
1 grapefruit
3 carrots
1 apple (cored and chopped)
1 pear
1 kiwi
Kale & Pear
4 pieces kale
1/2 cucumber
2 pears
1/2″ ginger
1 apple (cored and chopped)
tsp honey
Each of these recipes made about 2 of these jars worth of juice. I kept them in the fridge and have been drinking them for the past three days and they’ve tasted fine. I’ve read that you loose nutrients the longer they sit and you probably shouldn’t keep them much past 3 days.
I used a Jack LaLanne Juicer (which worked amazingly) but I’ve heard that you can use a food processor or heavy duty blender as well and then just drain the juice out of the mixture afterwards.
