DIY Halloween Paper Roll Treat Box

I keep finding myself drawn to making cute kid crafts when the holidays hit! Last year, I made ghost treat bags from paper bags. And I made toilet paper roll bunnies earlier this year for Easter. And today I’m sharing how to make a DIY Halloween paper roll treat box.

These are a super easy, quick craft to do. And I love being able to reuse something that was going to get tossed in the garbage, like empty toilet paper rolls.

Supplies:

  • empty toilet paper rolls (or you can buy white ones)
  • scissors
  • stapler
  • paint (white for ghosts / white, orange & yellow for candy corn)
  • paint brush
  • black marker (for drawing on face, or you can use paint)
  • hole punch
  • ribbon
  • candy or small toy, to fill boxes with

How to Make Halloween Paper Roll Treat Box:

  • Cut the top of a toilet paper roll to round the top (you can just leave it straight if you like). To cut the bottom wavy, you’ll need to squeeze the paper roll in the opposite direction as the top, as this is how you’ll form the triangle shape of the box later on.
  • Staple the top of the roll closed.
  • Paint the toilet paper roll. Set aside to dry.
  • Once the paper roll is completely dry, squeeze the bottom of the paper roll in the opposite direction of the top, forming a triangle or pyramid shape. Then draw or paint a face on.
  • You can fill the box with candy or a small toy and then staple the bottom closed. I wanted to make them reusable, so I punched a hole in the bottom to close with a ribbon.
  • Fill with treats and then tie off with the ribbon.
