Here is another DIY idea for those of you throwing a party for Independence Day next week. These will add the perfect amount of color to your table set-up! Since I made these, I can’t stop thinking about other yo-yo projects to make. They’re just so fun!
What you’ll need:
-A thicker white fabric
-Assorted red, white and blue fabric
-Cup (Or something round to trace)
-Needle and thread
How to make it:
-Cut a rectangle in the white fabric 17″ x 5.5″ (You may have to change the size depending on what type of silverware you plan on using.
-Fold and iron in 1/4″ along both of the long sides.
-Fold 4″ down from one of the short sides and iron in place.
-On the opposite side, fold a corner, iron it in place, trim some of excess fabric.
-Fold in half so that the tip of the angled side is lined up with the top of the other side. Iron in place.
-Use sewing machine to stitch up the two longer sides, leaving just the pocket for the silverware open.
-To make the yo-yos, trace a cup on the wrong side of one of the color fabrics. (Keep in mind that your yo-yo will be half the size of whatever you trace.)
-Cut out circle.
-Using the needle and thread, start stitching around the outside of the circle.
-Once you have stitched around the entire circle, pull the thread tight so that it all gathers to the center.
-Flatten out the yo-yo and then you can use the extra thread to sew into place on the silverware holder. Make sure you only sew through the top layer of white fabric or you won’t be able to put the silverware in!
-Pop in some cute paper straws and wooden silverware and go throw your party!
