This strawberry cream cheese heart danish is made with puff pastry, a cream cheese filling and fresh strawberries. An easy, delicious treat for Valentine's Day!
Wash and slice strawberries. Set aside. (I used a small heart cookie cutter to slice my strawberries).
Use a heart cookie cutter to cut out hearts. Using a smaller cookie cutter, or a knife, make a smaller heart indent (not cutting all the way through) inside the larger heart. (see photo in the post)
Brush the outer edge of the hearts with beaten egg.
Spoon about 1/2 tablespoon cream cheese mixture onto the smaller heart, leaving the border around the edge.
Top cream cheese mixture with a slice or two of strawberries.
Best served on the day they are made, either warm or room temperature.
This makes approximately 18 heart pastries, but will vary depending on the size of your cookie cutter. (I did have scraps leftover after cutting out my hearts).
