Hot Honey Recipe

Hot honey is honey that has been infused with red pepper flakes. It has a great spicy heat that pairs so well with the sweetness. Made with just 3 ingredients, it’s incredibly easy to make. Besides being simple to make, if you’re making homemade hot honey, you’re able to adjust the spiciness to your liking.

Drizzle it on pizza, salads, tacos or biscuits, drench your chicken with it, or even add it to your tea. My favorite way to enjoy it – you can make delicious dips with it, like the one I’ll be sharing next week!

How To Make It:

Making hot honey couldn’t be easier. You add your ingredients to a saucepan, heat it up, and let it cool. You can leave in the red pepper flakes to continue to let them infuse the honey (making it spicier), or strain them out. The recipe below is a small batch, but you can easily double it if you’re going to be eating a lot of it!

What You’ll Need:

  • honey
  • crushed red pepper flakes
  • apple cider vinegar – the apple cider vinegar is not necessary, it adds a bit of tanginess to the honey. You could do a couple of dashes of hot sauce instead of (or in addition to) the vinegar.
  • saucepan
  • storage jar for honey
  • small mesh sieve

Hot Honey

Hot honey is honey infused with red pepper flakes and is the perfect blend of spicy & sweet!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional)*
Instructions
  1. Stir together honey and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Heat to just a simmer, stirring occasionally. Make sure it doesn’t boil at all.

  3. Remove honey mixture from heat and stir in vinegar. Cool.

  4. You can leave in the red pepper flakes or strain them out. Leaving the red pepper flakes in will make the honey spicier over time.

Recipe Notes
