While I was trying to come up with some easy, last minute Christmas gifts last month, I stumbled across a picture on Instagram of someone eating sushi and resting their chopsticks on a little chopstick rest. I loved how sweet they looked and I instantly wanted to try to make my own chopstick rests! You can make these in under an hour (excluding drying time) and the design options are endless! I always try to use chopsticks and I’m not quite a pro at using them yet but if you know anyone that is, these would make a perfect and quick last minute gift.
What you need:
-Air Dry Clay
-Wax Paper
-Knife
OR
-Hardwood
-Scroll Saw
-Sandpaper
–Wood Butter
How to make it:
-Place clay on wax paper and use your hands and the knife to shape as desired.
-Leave to dry according to directions.
-Once it is dry, leave plain or paint as desired.
-Sketch out desired shape on a thin piece of hardwood.
-Use scroll saw to cut out the shape.
-Use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges.
-Finish with wood butter.
