I’ve been getting into yoga a little bit over the past year. I’m probably one of the least flexible humans in the world but it’s amazing how much 15 minutes of yoga every other day for a couple weeks can do. I can touch the floor with the tips of my fingers! Okay, it’s not that impressive unless you know that normally I can barely reach mid-shin. Seriously! I finally picked up a yoga mat a few weeks ago and this week I used some scrap leather to make a sweet adjustable sling to carry it around!
What you need:
-Leather (Two – 29″ x 1″ pieces and One – 19″ x 1″ piece) I buy the leather remnant packs from Michael’s for $6.99 and there are usually pieces big enough to use for projects like this. Plus tons of extra for other projects! You could also use some old or thrifted leather belts though!
-Extra Strong Thread
How to make it:
-On each of the 29″ pieces of leather, make marks at 1/4″, 1″, 5 1/4″ and 6″ in from one end of the leather.
-Use leather punch to punch holes in those four marks on both pieces.
-Fold leather so the holes line up and use thick thread to weave back and forth to secure.
-Take the opposite ends of both of the long pieces and put the through the loop formed by stitching the fold together.
-One both end of the 19″ piece and the open ends of the 29″ pieces, make a square of 4 dots.
-Use leather punch to punch holes in the marks.
-Use thread to sew a secure “x” through those holes.
Do any of you do yoga? Do you have a sling for your yoga mat?
