This time of year, a warm, satisfying breakfast is just the thing before heading out into a brisk (or freezing) morning! Oatmeal is a well-loved classic that seems especially good during this season. We thought it would be fun to give our oatmeal a little shake up from the classic brown sugar & raisins, and add some new, delicious toppings to our bowl of oats. Today we’re sharing five ways to top your oatmeal! Invite some friends over, cook up some oats, and let the topping fun begin!
Egg, Avocado & Bacon Oatmeal – cook your egg any way you like it (we did over easy here), top with avocado slices, and some crispy, crumbled bacon.
Java Oatmeal – these oats are topped with fresh, hot coffee, chocolate covered coffee beans, and whipped cream. It’s oatmeal with a nice, caffeinated kick!
Caramel Apple Oatmeal – top your oatmeal with fresh apple slices and drizzle on some caramel sauce. (We liked it with salted caramel sauce! You can find our recipe for that here.)
S’mores Oatmeal – this bowl of oats will have kiddos begging for oatmeal; top with crushed graham crackers, mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. (It got a thumbs up from the adults too!)
Berries, Yogurt & Honey Oatmeal – for those wanting to still keep their oatmeal on the healthier side, top with greek yogurt, fresh berries and a drizzle of honey.
What about you – how do you top your oatmeal? We came up with a lot of ideas while brainstorming, so we may be back with another oatmeal topping post down the road. We’d love to hear some creative ideas you have that we could try out!
