In honor of our Anthropologie giveaway, I made a necklace inspired by some of the beautiful Object & Totem necklaces that they currently have for sale. Like this and this. My budget doesn’t really have room for splurging on $198 necklaces… so I made my own.
What you need:
-Embroidery thread
-Beads or small spools of thread
-Twist cord
How to make it:
-Wrap thread around your fingers
-Tie an extra piece of thread through the middle
-Wrap and tie another piece of thread around the top – make sure it is tight
-Cut looped ends and trim to your desired length
-Use thread looped through the top of the tassel to tie tassel to the twist cord – be sure to lay out how you want your necklace to look before you tie the tassel on and make sure that your twist cord is long enough to fit over your head once the necklace is tied together
-Using another color thread, wrap around the twist cord to hide the knot from the tassel
-Continue to wrap thread as much as wanted
-Add beads and other tassels
-To close the necklace, I used a little bit of tape to attach the ends and then wrapped thread to hide the tape and a little further to keep it secure.
