Life Lately: Winter Exploring

Frozen Waterfall @themerrythought Living in Western New York, you expect winter to be full of cold and snow but this year has been especially brutal. I know we’ve mentioned it before but this has honestly been one of the longest, coldest winters that I can remember. I mean, today I’m home from work because my boss told me not to come into work because of the blizzard going on.

It’s been easy to get into my work, rarely see any sunlight, and spend my evenings locked up in my house trying to keep warm. Every now and then I have to bundle up, get out there and explore so I don’t fall into a winter misery rut! I need to remind myself that the world is still beautiful even when I feel like it’s trying to freeze the life out of me! And this beautiful sight was just what I needed. It made me appreciate the beauty that this bitter cold has to offer us. I mean, this place was just magicalWinter Exploring @themerrythought We went on a hike and stood in awe at the base of this gorgeous creation. We breathed in the crisp air, climbed into ice caves, fell through some unsafe ice (oops!), and just spent the afternoon appreciating the overwhelming beauty we’re surrounded by. It refreshed my soul.
Winter Exploring @themerrythought Winter Exploring @themerrythoughtThe best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.

I’m so thankful that spring is right around the corner but for now I’m finding some joy staying cozy at home eating stacks of french toast!
