Get Well Kit

DIY Get Well Basket @themerrythought
This Get Well Kit couldn’t have come up at more appropriate time for me. I’m currently still fighting a nasty sinus infection. Marla, my parents and I all had it a couple weeks ago (and most of the kiddos too, of course).  I thought I was getting better, had another day or two of feeling lousy, then thought I was getting better again, and now the last few days have been just awful with it again! I just can’t seem to kick it. I’ve developed some bizarre eye swelling to go along with it…I’ll spare you the pictures as it would frighten off even our most faithful of readers.  Although I do enjoy texting those photos to my mom & Marla every morning (although probably not smart…one day they’ll end up coming back to haunt me!). Currently being under the weather myself, I can tell you that receiving one of these get well baskets would make my day!  (Even having this one I made up myself has been great!) Customize your kit with goodies you know your sick friend or loved one will enjoy, along with a magazine or two (I’d be pleased as punch to get a copy of Kinfolk or Home & Hill), and it’s a sure way to make them feel better.

I collected a few staples of sickie must-haves and packaged them in an old wooden berry basket. So what’s in my get well kit?

What are some of your must-haves when you’re feeling sick??

I’m off to sip some tea and put my kit to good use…

Stay well!  Manda

The flu has gotten me too, so this post is well timed. I love magazines for when you’re sick; makes for good short reads between naps. And the tea is a must as well. Earl Grey makes everything better. I like some gently scented lotion too; just feels nice. I love the berry basket you used, need to get some of those. 🙂ReplyCancel

girl, it’s all about the ginger. i slice up some ginger and boil it in water. pour that into a fancy mug and add some honey and lemon and voila! it has a bit of a bite to it, but it helps. and YOUR basket…would be a dream to receive if/when sick. i’ve never had anyone put something together like this for me…and I’m feeling inspired to do this for someone else one day. love it. -MistyReplyCancel

So sorry you’ve been sick Manda. I hate being sick, especially when it drags on forever. I love this idea of a sick basket – what a sweet gift for someone who isn’t feeling well. I should definitely put something like this together! Hope you feel better soon!ReplyCancel

When your feeling sick and blue there’d be nothing nicer than receiving a basket like this from a friend! How beautiful.
I made one once, I included a scented candle and reed diffuser as well as a little amethyst crystal (supposed to help heal) plus magazine etc.
That said, when you have a sinus INFECTION then antibiotics are all that will help you.
When it’s just the flu then a naturopath I worked for used to refused to take the money from those with it. His theory, and I’ve stuck to it for 16 yrs now, was heaps of garlic and onion and orange juice. The juice is the vit C, have as much as possible. Plus Vics on chest and the bottom of your feet. Key is to attack as soon as the first symptom starts.ReplyCancel

If it is sinuses, then it would be tissues, cough/throat drops, subtle scented bath salts or bubble bath for hot bath, magazine or book to read while taking my hot bath. I love this idea of the giving get well baskets. What better way to make some one feel better than to show them you care and were thinking of them?ReplyCancel
