A Day at the Falls

A Day at the Falls @themerrythought A Day at the Falls @themerrythought A Day at the Falls @themerrythought A Day at the Falls @themerrythought A Day at the Falls @themerrythoughtMy car pretty much bit the dust this weekend. It’s been my longest lasting car after being around for the past 3 years. Before that I was buying a new car every year! Seriously. So I’m very thankful that I had a decent car for quite a while but I’m dreading car shopping this week.

While I’ve been car-less this past week, I’ve been staying at my cousins’ house so I have cars to borrow. Luckily, this leaves me in the company of some folks that are always up for some hiking and swimming adventures. Yesterday afternoon we packed up and headed out to explore some nearby waterfalls. We visited Akron Falls, which I’ve been to a bunch of times, and then Indian Falls, which I had never been to before and it was incredible – definitely one of my favorites! We soaked up some sun, jumped off the falls, found a tiny turtle, chatted with some strangers, and ended our day with a nice little picnic. Making the most of these summer days and planning a few more day trips for the next few weeks!

Where are your favorite places to take a day trip to?

Megan - Wow! So sorry to hear about your car, but those falls look absolutely breathtaking. Not a bad way to spend your car-less days, that’s for sure!

Carly @ Zauberbear - Okay, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to go to a waterfall this much. These photos are beautiful. Hope car-shopping is painless!ReplyCancel

Susan - Know the car woes. We finally had to let go of our 17 year old van for a newer vehicle, although we still have our 20 year old truck alsoReplyCancel

Susan - The van was a Ford Econoline that we purchased when our four kids were still small and someone actually gave us the Dodge truck (which doesn’t look like much but it runs fine) – we have a bumper sticker on it: don’t let the truck fool you our treasure is in heaven – it truly does fit the truck and us.ReplyCancel

Hannah - I recently had to buy a new car, too, and was totally stressing about it. I knew that my type-A personality would force me to research, test drive, and comparison-shop all I possibly could before committing. But then my therapist pointed out, there’s nothing that’s actually wrong with finding a car you like that you can afford, and buying it. And that’s exactly what I did! I ended up buying the first car I test drove (a Toyota Yaris) and have loved driving it every day since. I just had to be reminded that there’s nothing wrong with making life a little easier for yourself. 🙂 Good luck!!ReplyCancel
