Eggnog Glazed Donuts

Eggnog Glazed Donuts @themerrythoughtApparently I’m really into fancying up store bought treats this season. But I think that’s a good thing. Because easy always = good. Don’t worry, still lots of baking happening in this house too (like these cookies, and these, these cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning, planning on making these for my dad, this for Christmas day and Caitlin’s secret prayer is that I can find time to make these again). So with all the other baking and merry-making happening, sometimes ya just gotta throw in some easy, half homemade-half store bought treats.
And what better way than with eggnog glazed donuts?! Buy plain donuts, add some homemade eggnog glaze (recipe below), and to make them extra festive add some fresh rosemary sprigs sprinkled with powdered sugar. plain donuts
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons eggnog
dash of nutmeg
fresh rosemary – optional (for garnish only)
additional powdered sugar – optional
ground cinnamon – optional

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of eggnog and a dash of nutmeg. Add in additional eggnog if the glaze is too thick, you want it thick but spreadable. Dip the top half of the donuts into the glaze, set on a piece of wax paper to set. If desired, add a little sprig of fresh rosemary, sift a little bit of powdered sugar over the rosemary and add a light sprinkle of cinnamon to the glaze.
*I used the rosemary as a garnish only. Obviously it’s completely edible, but I only wanted it for looks…
