Cocktail Meatballs

This is a recipe I’ve been making for years. It’s one of those ones that I feel like everyone has a recipe for, or at least a close variation of the recipe, so I had never put it on my blog about this list. Except whenever I take it to group get togethers, at least one person always requests the recipe. So I began to think maybe there are a few of you out there that have not heard of this odd ingredient recipe that makes these delicious meatballs.  So for those two of you that still haven’t gotten your hands on this recipe – here ya go!

This recipe also goes by a bunch of different names; I’ve heard them called sweet & sour meatballs, chili sauce meatballs, grape jelly meatballs.  I call them cocktail meatballs for the sake of keeping things simple.  These are so quick to throw together and you can just leave them simmering in the crockpot for hours, so they’re perfect party food.  They’re also perfect guy food. It’s meat, on a stick if you use toothpicks.
It’s easy to adapt the sauce to suit your taste too – add a little extra grape jelly to sweeten things up.  I personally like mine with a little less grape jelly, just a hint of sweetness is good for me. You could also skip the step of mixing the chili sauce & grape jelly together first and just throw them in your crockpot or saucepan and stir. I like to make sure my sauce is very smooth, so I mix mine together separately before adding it to the crockpot.Cocktail Meatball Appetizer @themerrythought
Cocktail Meatballs

12 oz. chili sauce
6 oz. grape jelly – more or less to taste
1 (26 oz.) package meatballs

In a small saucepan over medium heat, stir together chili sauce and grape jelly until smooth and hot.  (Taste the sauce and see if you want to add more jelly.) Put meatballs in a crockpot or large saucepan. Pour sauce over meatballs and stir to coat. Simmer for a couple hours over low heat (or at least until meatballs are heated through).Cocktail Meatball Appetizer @themerrythought
