Last month, we threw a little birthday party for Marla’s mother-in-law. Normally we don’t do too much for the adult birthdays in our family, but it was the first birthday she’s celebrated up here (she moved up here last summer from South Carolina), so we wanted to make it a little bit special.
Our cookie menu featured cake batter chocolate chip cookies, molasses crinkles, orange glazed cookies, brown sugar cookies with maple icing, and a giant chocolate chip cookie cake. (We also served a few appetizers). Our drink menu featured whole milk (you just have to for a party like this, right?), chocolate milk, hot chocolate, coffee, and sweet tea (she’s a true southern belle).
We kept our decor low key and simple. We went with a brown and white color scheme and were able to use all things we already had on hand. For the favors, we made our own “Got Milk” treat bags for everyone to take home some cookies in.
It was a fun afternoon celebrating. We’re so glad that Miss Teresa has gone against the grain and moved up north instead of staying in the warm south!
