(I know these photos aren’t the best – I took them with my phone. Sometimes taking along my real camera feels like too much work…and makes what I’m doing feel like work!  Snapping pictures with my phone lets me still enjoy the moment while capturing it forever…so forgive my slightly blurry photos please!)
Caitlin, Mike, the boys and I spent Father’s Day afternoon at the Cascades of Attica – a nearby waterfall.  It was a perfect day of exploring – we had the place to ourselves and the weather was amazing – not too hot, not too cold.  It was a bit of a climb getting down to the creek, we had to use a rope to get down the hill (or maybe I should call it a cliff!), but the boys did it (and so did their mama – I’m not the most agile girl!) and were so proud of themselves for doing it.  We spent some time wading through the creek, Levi throwing every rock he could get his hands on and just enjoying the cool and the quiet, before heading to the waterfall and exploring more there. Being down there, surrounded by all the green, with no one else around gave it an almost magical feel, like we had slipped into another world. It’s been one of my favorite days of the year so far and something I hope to do more of over the summer…finding new places to explore together, enjoying the adventure and the chance to just be away together for a bit. (Just look at those two little boys holding hands in the last picture – Malacai helping Levi up the hill…my heart is just bursting with love at that sweetness!) I’ll admit that I’m not a super outdoorsy kind of girl, but whenever I do things like this, I’m always wanting to do more…and I definitely want the boys to have a spirit of adventure and love for the outdoors like their daddy does.  So here’s to more summer adventures and getting outside!
