First Day of Nursery School

My baby girl started nursery school. And this mamma’s heart is proud. When Fabienne was born I wasn’t sure what her future would look like. What I know now is that she’s much like any other [almost] three year old. She loves to read books, play outside and dance while daddy plays guitar. She has adorable dimples when she smiles and fights over toys with her little brother. Don’t get me wrong, she has to work a lot harder than most peers to accomplish everyday tasks like talking and running. We have four therapists in our house every week. But this little girl is fiercely determined and continues to surprise us with her capabilities. This tiny girl has already changed my perspective on so many things. I believe she will change the lives of many people in her path. I also fear she will face discrimination because she is different. I wrote about it in this post awhile back. If you have not yet read The Talk by Momastery, please take a moment. It’s not too late to have The Talk with your little ones who are just starting out a new school year. Like I said before.. my hope.. my dream.. my prayer is that Fabienne will find compassionate little friends in school. Who love her just the way she is.

– Marla

Pat Schwab - She looks adorable for her first day of school and what a proud Mama you must be. My kids had the chance when they were younger to help out or take gym with some special children when they were in elementary school and always had positive things to say about there shared classroom time.ReplyCancel

pienthesky - Oh my word! How precious is she?! I just came across your blog today and I’m just smitten!

I was a substitute for a short while and I would sub frequently for a specific kinder class. In the class there was the sweetest little girl who had Aspergers. She struggled to do a lot of the things that the other children did, but by goodness she gave it all she had and would surprise me constantly! The thing I loved most was this little boy in the class, who took it upon himself to take care of Kalee. Anytime she needed help, he was there. Anytime we’d leave somewhere, he’d take her to the line and walk by her side the whole way. His help and concern for her was so beautiful to see. Everyone in the class loved her and not once did they say something mean or rude to her – just showed love. I wish that for your sweet girl!

So glad I found your blog!ReplyCancel
