DIY Tree Skirt Alternative

It’s crazy that we’re halfway through November already, these fall months just slip by too quickly! Today we’re joining up with the other Michaels Makers and participating in the Annual Dream Tree Challenge! This year, we’re sharing a tree skirt alternative for those looking for something a little less traditional, as well as styling a smaller tree. We know not everyone has the space for a huge tree, or maybe you do, but you’re just wanting to keep things a bit simpler this season – a small tree (real or faux!) is the perfect way to do that!DIY Tree Skirt Alternative @themerrythoughtMichaels has a large selection of trees this year, including large & small sizes. (If you already have a larger tree, you don’t need to put the whole tree together, you can customize the size by just using one or two sections from it). Tree stands are typically too large to fit inside baskets, so we drilled a hole in a piece of wood (just make sure it’s heavy enough to support your tree) and placed our tree in that inside of the basket (we found our gold wire basket at Michaels). We used faux fur ribbon around the inside of the basket to give it a cozy look as well as to hide the wood block and decorated the tree with some of our favorite ornaments – diy clay and diy geometric ornaments! We found more faux fur (those stockings!!) and gold accessories at Michaels to decorate with and strung up our gold DIY painted string lights. And for those using a faux tree, including a pine scented candle is the perfect finishing touch – we’re slightly obsessed with this Noble Fir candle from Kindred Home Market! DIY Tree Skirt Alternative @themerrythoughtMinimal Christmas @themerrythought Scandinavian Christmas @themerrythoughtScandinavian Christmas @themerrythoughtDIY Christmas Ornaments @themerrythoughtMinimal Christmas @themerrythoughtScandinavian Christmas @themerrythoughtMinimal Christmas @themerrythoughtScandinavian Christmas @themerrythoughtCowhide Rug C/O The Leather Guy.
