DIY Cuckoo Clock Costume | The MerrythoughtDIY Cuckoo Clock Costume | The Merrythought Yesterday, I shared 20 handmade Halloween costumes that I love! Today I’m sharing the costume that I made for myself this year… a cuckoo clock!

-Cardboard
-Tape
-Thin wood (I bought mine in the wood crafting section at Michael’s)
-Scroll saw
-Sand paper
-Stain
-Hot glue gun
-Scissors
-Mini bird, clock face, other extras
-Leather lace
-Pinecones
-Twist ties

How to make it:
From the cardboard, cut out (2) 9″x7″ for roof, (2) 8″x3.5″ for sides, (2) 6″(tops)x3.5″(sides)x4.25″(bottom) for front and back. Tape these piece together from the inside. Cut a rounded part out of each of the side pieces so it fits better on your head. Use the scroll saw to cut shingles for roof – various size widths, about 1.5″ height. Use the scroll saw to cut out a little gingerbread trim for across the front of the roof – 7″ long. Sand the edges and stain the cut out wood. Hot glue the trim in place across the front and then hot glue the shingles in rows across the roof – start from the bottom and work your way to the roof peak. The front can be designed however your heart desires. Cut out a few more pieces from the wood and stained then (for the shutters and such) and then hot glue them in place. The clock was from an old pocket watch and I bought the bird at a local craft store. Poke a hole in each side of clock through the cardboard and run a piece of leather lace through each, tying a knot on the inside so it can’t slide through – you will use this to tie around your head. You can stuff some plastic bags inside to prevent it from slipping over your face. Use twist ties to attach the pinecones to the end of your braids.
